Commune Location

Czernichów Commune lies in the most beautiful parts of makroregion Beskid Zachodni, also called Beskid Mały, by picturesque gorges of the Soła river. The river gorges were used to building of two dams / power stations in Porąbka (in 1936) as well as in Tresna (in 1966). Thanks to dams came into being beautifully situated lakes: Międzybrodzkie and Żywieckie, called "pearls in a crown of the Beskid peaks". In 1978 on top of the Żar mountain was built a water reservoir and inside the mountain - the hydroelectric power station – world-wide unique power object. From the mountain tops of: Czupel (930 m above sea level), Magurka (909 m a.s.l.), Rogacz (899 m a.s.l.), Cisowe Grapy (806 m a.s.l.), Jaworzyna (861 m a.s.l.), Kościelec (795 m a.s.l.), Żar (761 m a.s.l.) is possible to see the whole panorama of Beskid Mały, Śląski and Żywiecki, and even the Tatra Mountains.
